2011 here we come...

Well 2010 brought a lot of ups and downs to our little family. We are very excited for the next year. We are looking forward to more home projects, to begin working on our yard, and to continue to grow our marriage. We know that God has blessed us because we found each other and it is important to make sure we do our best to treat each other with respect, love, and kindness. We love you all dearly. What are y'alls goals for the new year?

Well Hello.

So Christmas is just around the corner. I am doing my best to make it through today and tomorrow before I am off work (Praise the Lord). Gifts are wrapped and ready, food is bought and ready to be cooked, and the house...well it's almost clean. So I have been thinking about what I am going to set as a goal for the upcoming year and really what I keep coming back around to is making sure that the foundation to my marriage is a strong one. This year has really helped us grow and learn about what we want and don't want and I really think we need to make sure we are rooted in friendship, faith, and love. That means learning to let go of things that are not worth the fight and fighting for things that are important. I know we are get stressed and it is easy to pick a fight but the tough part is stepping back and checking the real issue and bringing that into the light. Not to always have my guard up and to communicate. So my thought today is that everyone is blessed to have friends and family that love and support you and that you do your best to return the favor. With out a support system life is pretty dang hard. I know Jared and I are blessed and we want to cultivate that and grow it into something amazing. Love y'all! Merry Christmas!

I feel like Thanksgiving was yesterday....

and now Christmas is upon us.
Well the cards are about 90% done. The tree is trimmed and looking amazing. The menu is planned for Christmas dinner and almost totally bought. Gifts are nesting around the tree. Now, on to cleaning the house for company. I am trying to remember the reason for the season. It seems like everything that was steady in life is becoming stormy. Things at work are changing and I have been diagnosed with hypothyroid disease (thanks to medication I am praying this will be corrected). But, now I know why I am tired all the time and even though I have only been on medication for a week I can already tell a difference. Not a huge one...but I am sure feeling better. I know things will settle back down but right now things seem like they overwhelming right now. This is certainly a time to turn things over to the Lord. I know in my heart things will get better. It is just the waiting that is hard. However, I have looked around at the people I see everyday and I know things in my world are so small compared to the cancer patients I see daily, compared to the homeless people I pass on the way to work, and compared to even some of the people I see around me who are not in healthy relationships. I guess what this all means is things will be ok. I am blessed with family and friends, faith, and love. Praise the Lord for what I have!

Happy Almost Thanksgiving

Well it is the day before Thanksgiving and I am almost ready. The house is clean and the food is bought...now just to prep the food, wash the dogs, and mop the kitchen. Not too much left to do on my list for the night.
So what are we all thankful for this year you may ask? We are thankful for our health, for the roof over our head, and for friends and family that are so supportive. The year has flown by. We have been able to travel not only with in our own state but to see our godson in Colorado as well. We were able to visit Jared's sister and brother in law. I hope that everyone can find something to be thankful for during this time of the year and hope that everyone is able to enjoy their Thanksgiving Day!

But if we did not have to come to work on Monday would that make us hate Tuesday?

Well so things are always changing at home and in life and I guess work is no exception. Sometimes I isolate work like it is some foreign world that can not have a cause or effect on my real life but then things happen that being that idea crashing down. Not that anything specific has happened...well nothing I want to post for everyone and Jesus to read about. Just normal work drama. I think my co-worker and I had a conversation that went a bit like this..."When you finally make it out of high school you think..whew I made it out alive. College will be great and there won't be all this drama because we will be grown folks. Yeah then when you get out of college you think holy crap I made it out a live..barley. Thank the Lord I am getting a job because surely adults are much more mature. Then you show up for work (you know only to work for 35 years) and people are just as insane as they were in the 9th grade." The thing is you have the same drama you just cycle through the different ages and groups of people. Sounds pretty bad when you see it all typed out but you know it is what you make of it when it happens that counts. So get out there. Make today count. I am trying my very best to do the same!

Missing Old Days

certain does not last but flexibilty is key

Some life lessons seem to sneak up on you. For example I was certain I wanted to chop off all my hair but now I am desperate to get my long hair back. So I should have been flexible and just changed it up not cut it off. Oh the lessons we learn. I wanted a dog but now we have three...I never thought we would have three dogs but every day I have to remind myself that even though I spend all day sweeping and cleaning as soon as my fur babies come inside they will bring in leaves, dust, dirt, and other treats from their outside play time. I can really annoyed by this but they don't mean to do it. They do not know they do it. This means I need to be more flexible and learn that some things you have to let go of and know that the fact of the matter is I have three dogs I love very much and who I know love me. Same can be said for our relationship with Christ I think. We get so certain we believe and we want to shout it to everyone, then it can take something so simple to crush that. Instead of being flexible and learning from mistakes we get angry and forget about Him and we turn to things that do not serve to build us up in Christ. Then we realize the mistake and turn back asking for help, a map, forgiveness, and to help us never stray again. But, we do. Even in small ways. Just like we have to be flexible in life we have to remember that we all fall short of the glory of God and when things happen that make us certain we want to turn from God what we should do is slow down, figure out the situation, and make the effort to change the behavior. Being flexible allows us to stop and take the time to realize what we are doing. I know these are just my own thoughts but after sitting and listening to people who had turned on God all around me I knew I had to stop and take the time to remember that He has never really let me down. Even when I was certain He had...there was a lesson, there was something that came out of the situation, there was something that made me better.
Happy Monday!
