crafting...yay

I have wanted to make something like these out of felt for a long time but then my sister andher friend made some out of cloth and I figured I could try it and I love the way they turned out. These are poppy flowers that I sewed together and put a bobby pin on the back to wear. I think they will be a lot of fun for the summer because I used a big bobby pin on some of them so they could go on top of a pony tail or twisted up messy or just to hold back bangs when I want them out of my face. My sister even let me take a close up of her hair and the flower so all that bright blonde hair is hers.
Enjoy!

Three days off.

Well here I am working on laundry. Thrilling. I am flipping channels, folding clothes, and waiting for the towels in the washer to finish. The dryer has gone out which means this current load of laundry will make it's way outside on the line to soak up some sun. Though a friend of mine pointed out that things come in threes. The dryer was broke down ONE. So I wonder what two and three will be. I wonder if all three have to be bad things considering what I have coming up this week. Maybe we can change the meaning to some good things and one bad? Well today is day one of my three days off work. Saturday and Sunday I dis not do much. Bought some clothes for my trip to Colorado, went to a follow up doctor appointment, and slept/rested a lot. Today I am trying to get the house picked up so that after all my pain medications I can just lay in bed. Well I hear a basket of laundry calling my name. Everyone enjoy the day.

odds and ends...

Well again at my lunch break I sort through house after house. Funny I see things we really would like but the neighborhood is not great or the neighborhood is amazing but the house is a total wreck. Sometimes I feel cheated. Like no one takes the time to explain all this when you are sitting in the loan officers office they should tell you that this will not be easy and there are a lot of things to consider. Not that this is bringing me down because over all I am pretty upbeat about the process now. I was upset for a while just at the frustration of the entire process but I feel like I have a better grip on the realities of the situation and I can adjust to the bumps much better.

Other than that it is a typical Wednesday and I am just working right along trying not to focus on the clock. I am working on a to do list for the evening and I am thinking about doing some sewing this weekend. Seems like it would be relaxing and maybe it would help me get rid of some of this nervous energy I have about next week.

Oh even though we do not have a home in sight yet to buy I did pick something out that I want for the front yard…

Lent

So for lent I have been going through the old blue hymnal. It has been nice to not only reflect on God during this time but it reminds me of my childhood. I think Divine Service II is something I could do in my sleep (including the Pastors portion). I have also really enjoyed singing songs that I had long forgot about. It has been a treat to spend my time before bed in the Word. It is very comforting and since Jared works such crazy hours it is nice to spend that down time I have getting my heart, mind, and spirit back in the groove of my faith. I feel much better when each night I can say my prayers, read, and praise and it feels like each morning is a new and fresh start. What are you doing during this time of Lent?

an update...

Okay so maybe that house was not meant to be. But, that is okay. I was upset for a day then I realized there must be something more in store for us. We have been looking at a lot of houses and nothing has really stood out. We really hoped the one we looked at last night would be great…however it had a creek for a back yard and we knew it would be a big undertaking. I think in my heart I had hoped for this to be a little simpler but in my head I know this is just the beginning of a much bigger journey.

To talk about other things in life Monday is the first day of my walking/jogging/running camp. Yay! I will soon be on my way to running a 5k. How insane is this I ask you? I am nervous, scared, excited, and happy all rolled into one. Then Tuesday I have surgery. Now in all reality this is a simple thing but for me…I have never had surgery and I am not big on doctors being in my space. Actually, I only prefer family and close friends that close to me. I have a birth mark on the back of my head. Very small but at my last dermatology visit (and yes I go often thanks to all my freckles, moles, and birthmarks) my doctor said the small birth mark on the back of my head was looking suspicious of something called basal cell skin cancer. This is common in people who get a lot of sun and are fair skinned. Of which I have both…treat. The birth mark has changed in shape and size a little over the years as I have grown but now it is raised up and has become a bit painful at times. So Tuesday afternoon I will go in to the dermatology oncology clinic here at my amazing work where a man, a doctor, who is in the top of his field from what I hear and from what I have read will shave (hopefully a small portion) of my head and remove the birth mark. So long old friend it was nice knowing ya! To say that I am nervous is really an understatement because I have never been on this end of the cancer word, I have never gone ‘under the knife’, and I really love my hair vain though it may be. Lucky for me when I get there I will get something for my nerves and after I will get something for pain so I might be on cloud nine for a while which could be interesting. I am sure deep down that everything will be fine. But it does not keep me from being human and being nervous. So, every prayer and good thought sent my way on Tuesday afternoon would be much appreciated.

Oh, on a lighter note. The hubs has been at his new job for over six months. I can not believe how time flies. He is doing very well there and I can tell he is happy there. Which is nice to be happy at work and at home! He currently is feeling a little under the weather but thanks to some much needed rest he is starting to perk back up.

Well we made them an offer we hope they can’t refuse!

We made an offer on a house. So begins our potential journey into the world of owning a home. This week we wait to see if our offer is accepted and then after that begins the inspection, appraisal, getting the survey squared away, and all the fun things that come with this process. I just wanted to ask for prayers during this time that this works out the best way it can even if it means we do not buy this let it work out for the best. I am going to try and post pictures and ‘walk’ you through the house. Some pictures wont go up because they are not good quality so its hard to tell what it really looks like but here are a few good ones. So here goes…

Snow…more than an inch and yes it was in ARKANSAS.

Well from my desk I can see the VA Hospital and the parking lot and grass still has some snow left on it. Let me tell you all something…nothing will shut down the south faster than snow. I have been in Wal*Mart during tornados and not seen people to worried but if the weather man even hints at sleet, freezing rain, or snow this place shuts down so fast it will make your head spin. So needless to say two weeks ago on Friday we had a lot of ice (which sometimes people here consider snow lol which until I moved to Nebraska I had no idea what snow really meant…) my sister and I ventured out and thanks to my sweet driving skills we made it to work in about 45 minutes (normally it’s a 30 minute flat trip). Going home that day was a little more nerve racking because more sleet came down and the salt/sand trucks were not covering the areas close to our home so we only went about 15 miles an hour or so over most of the trip. Getting up our driveway was slow but easy which surprised me because it is tough in the rain at times. Then the ice melted and all was back to normal for a few days. Then the snow came. Monday morning last week I knew as soon as I woke up driving from where we live just was not going to happen. Jared had to stay over at work a few hours because people were calling in and when we talked on the phone I knew he didn’t like the idea of me getting out in all that mess so Monday and Tuesday I was snowed in at home. It was so pretty and really it looked like a post card. All the trees were covered in snow and the air was so crisp and everything looked so clean. Snow really is such a great symbol for all things pure. It can take even the roughest looking areas and make them seem soft. The rest of the week I did go to work but my mom’s car was still too deep in the snow so we carpooled which was a nice change to driving by myself. I will post some pictures of the snow and what a winter wonderland it was for a time here. Now, it is cold and dry and the snow is starting to go away though the big piles of it are not moving in fact some of them are hard as a rock. The road crews pushed now off the road but where we live there are no shoulders so its piled a little on the edge of the road and if your tires hit it you feel like you just hit a brick wall…I know because I did it this morning. UGH. Poor tires. Hope everyone else is enjoying this winter but if you are like me you are ready for spring!
