5K getting closer...

Well it is getting closer with every day that passes I can feel my stomach knot up just a little but more. But, I am determined to get through this and do something as an adult I never have done before. Not just get through the 5K but show myself I am able to focus on my health, my body, and my soul and that it is important to treat my body well. As I pull in to the parking lot at the running clinic each week I try and think of all the reasons to leave early but then I remind myself that my body is the only one I get and if I want to stick around long enough to do all the things I really want to in life then I need to make sure that I put good things in. I have even stuck to portion control. Last night we went out for a date night and had yummy pizza but when I was hungry after the first slice I made the choice to cut another slice down the middle and have half. I was full and I didn't have to eat the entire thing. It was nice for a change not to feel a little sick leaving a restaurant. Feeling so stuffed I want to go home and get in bed. I still had energy and we were able to go do a little pre-Easter shopping and pick out a new DVD. It is nice to feel good about the choices we make and about our self. I think that the most important thing we can do as Christians is to be so full of the Christ like attitude that we want to show it not just in our actions with other people but how we treat our own body and soul. I was on a roll for a while reading from the old blue Lutheran hymnal before bed just going through the Psalms and singing to myself and I found that it was very calming...but then I missed one night and that turned to two and then more and it was growing every day that I was missing something. So today when I get home my hymnal is on my pillow and ready for me to read even just for a moment to get myself centered again. PS I did something I never thought I would...I used the stop watch feature on the new $7 watch I found (in neon orange yes!) to time myself around the track during my running clinic. It was great to feel like I was really turning into a runner...well jogger. Hope everyone enjoys this day that the Lord has made....yes even my lucky friend at home enjoying a snow day! <><

Chicken and Dumplins....yummy

Well I made a huge pot of chicken and dumplings and it turned out really well...a little heavy on the pepper but I love it. Especially the next day! I made it with chicken broth and veggies and boneless skinless chicken breast and even the healthier version is just as tasty as the heavy one. This is while everything was being sauteed and cooked. I do not like boiled chicken so i cooked it first then cut it up. It gave it great flavor and my hubby taught me to cook the veggies first and they really were great as well. Thanks for the tip baby! Since I am not much into cooking this was a nice change. I may start looking for something else fun to make...wish me luck! <><

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Well, some days trying to filter my thoughts down enough to make sense then write it all out for all you (few though you may be) people to enjoy seems like a big task. Work is good for me not super busy but I should be doing more I am sure...just can not keep from drifting over to the windows to soak up the sun. I know it doesn't look sunny out but I just want to show my view off...that is the capital (the second 'tall' building starting on the left). I like having a view of the city sky line. There is something very interesting about it to me and it is nice to walk away from the phone, computer, emails, etc. for a minute and think about anything other than work.
I am planning on making chicken and dumplins for dinner tonight. I wanted to last night but since my amazing husband was at work and I was feeling kind of cruddy I had a sandwich and called it a night.
Everyone enjoy your day and maybe you will even have a little Irish luck!

Just another manic Monday...

Well I am almost two weeks post having the birth mark on my head removed. The test results are in and all is well. It was however bigger then we originally thought so I feel as though I had a face lift on the right side. My neck and scalp are very tight and getting comfortable at night is still difficult but I am glad to know that I do not have to worry about it being anything serious. Tonight is the running clinic! Yay. Last time I went around the track about 9 times...which puts me over two miles. So I am feeling really good about the 5k. Scared, nervous, and excited but good over all. I am trying to get my brain wrapped around the time change. Even just one hour seems to change everything. My awesome husband made me a cheese omelet and biscuits this morning so I had breakfast to start my day instead of remembering three hours later which was nice. I am sort of in shock because did everyone realize it is half way through March already? Where does the time go? Well, everyone enjoy the day...I know I am going too! <><

Oh I almost forgot...

I wanted to updated you all on my couch to 5k clinic! It is going really well. I am sore but not more than I figured I would be. I did learn that I need to stretch a lot more but other than that I am loving it. It is set up so that when you get there you stretch as a group then we all hit the track. You listen for your bell (the runners, joggers, and walkers each have a different one) and you speed up during the few minutes between bell rings. So its nice you can pace yourself then spring a little then get back down into your regular pace and each time the 'sprint' section is a little longer. So as a walker or jogger or runner you just push yourself as hard as you can during that time to work on building up your endurance so that you can survive the race. Ha. I will keep updating on this. Oh and it is helping me lose weight too yay! <><

Spring!

Well I hope everyone is doing well. I am feeling a little crazy at work but such is like huh? It seems like Spring is trying very hard to be here and get settled in. Which means it is time to Spring clean! I have a small pile of clothes going and I am cleaning out some of the tupperware tubs because who knows what is in those??? Also I washed the Jeep but it needs to be cleaned out really well on the inside. I know there are a ton of jackets and scarves in there that need to find there home in the closet. Last night we had some severe weather with tornadoes, hail, rain, and all that jazz. Jared even brought in a handfull of hail and it was about quarter size maybe a little smaller. Thank the Lord all windshields were spared! I know that a few miles from us people had a lot of damage to their homes. Scary thing to think how close it was but we were good, the house is good, and after we pick up some tree limbs the driveway will be good. Nothing big but never the less needs to go. Well time to get back to work...maybe I will take a walk after lunch to enjoy the weather. Everyone enjoy the day that the Lord has made! <><

Date Day

We took some time Sunday and went down to Hot Springs. We went to the casino and watched the horse races and even took a stroll down central and checked out shops and enjoyed the awesome weather. We also found a very yummy Mexican place with great salsa and yummy food. It was nice to get that first taste of spring and I am looking forward to some warmer weather. <><
