Our great weekend!

VW festival, swimming in the Buffalo River, great Mexican food, great pizza, Lowe’s trip full of new mulch and fresh house paint…that is just the rundown of my weekend!

First of all I took off Friday and we ran a few errands and saw a friend’s precious new baby. He was 8 days old I believe and he was adorable! So tiny and so very cute! Then we took a two and a half hour drive to Harrison to stay with Jared’s Aunt Carol and cousins Douglas and Mathew. The drive up was really nice. We were able to roll down the windows and enjoy the view. Friday night we had some very delicious Mexican food and some really great conversations. It was a nice way to end the day.

Saturday morning we went to the local Harrison farmers market (after delicious waffles thanks Aunt Carol!). We got peaches, cucumbers, onions, and zucchini. The weather was nice, it was getting hot but overall the morning was nice. Then we ran back to the house to pick up Douglas and went to Eureka Springs. It is a very cool town but very compact. The VW’s were awesome and they had some very tricked out cars. It was cool to see so many people there with a love of all things vintage. After checking everything out we went down to a local park and had a picnic lunch. It was so nice to sit in the shade and relax. It was a really nice way to spend the afternoon. Next it was on the river! We went back to Harrison to pick up Mathew and found our way out to the Buffalo River. The water was perfect! There were so many little fish out and just as much as we were checking them out they were checking us out. Our evening ended with some great Brick Oven Pizza and relaxing. Such a great day. Then we packed up and made the drive home.

Sunday we got up and decided to head out to get a newspaper which turned into going to Lowe’s to get new mulch for the flower bed and new paint for the house! I am so excited. We started yesterday afternoon and got a big chunk done. We are not done by any means but it was great to get started. The color is a really pretty green and it is already giving the house much more character. After the front of the house is painted I will add new mulch to the flower bed. Actually, yesterday I pulled out all the rotted old gross mulch which was a pain but it already looks better. I am so excited to see the new flower bed against a new background. It is crazy what a fresh coat of paint can do for a home.

It is nice to have a weekend of relaxing and being productive. Good combination. So what did you do this weekend? I hope it was as great as mine was!
